Nigeria at 63, Amuwo Odofin Council Chairman Calls For Patriotism

As the nation marks the 63rd  anniversary of flagged independence,a call has gone to the people to shun divisive politics but remain patriotic, for the progressive development of the country.

The advise was given on Sunday in Lagos by the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin local government,Engr Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh in a press release issued by his Media office in commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of nationhood, stressing that despite challenges in the country,"there is still need to appreciate those who fought for independence "

Engr Buraimoh showered encomiums on the Nigerian leaders who fought for independence, namely Chief Obafemi Awolowo,Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa,Herbert Macaulay, etc ,urging all to embrace their patriotic zeal that led to the end of British rule in the country

He however berated the military for majority of the challenges the country is facing ,positing that their incursion into governance actually dealt a debilitating blows to progressive development

He commended Nigerians for their support for democracy since 1999 and that the change of government periodically has greatly improved the country's democratic experience

The progress inclined council boss however urged Nigerians to continue to support the incumbent administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,so that his plans for a better Nigeria will be achieved, while promising the people of Amuwo Odofin local government his administration"s impactful projects and  dividends of democracy at all times

In his words " I celebrate with Nigerians on the auspicious occasion of the 63rd Independence anniversary of the country. We  thank our founding fathers for achieving self rule, when they did,I salute their resilience, dedication and commitment to nationhood. They are men and women to be proud of. Unfortunately, the incursion of the military into governance greatly affected development in the country, since they were not trained in the art of governance "

" Let me say for the records, though we are not where we are supposed to be, but there is need for celebration. I want to appeal to our people to continue to support our president for development, though painful now, there is light at the end of the tunnel, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a progressive to the core and I am certain he has started well, soon ,the outcome of his sleepless night will bear good fruits for us to see"

Finally " let me assure my people in Amuwo Odofin, that we shall continue to embark on impactful projects for the benefits of all, while assuring of our unalloyed commitment to their well being at all times" , he concluded
