Dangote Donates 80,000 Bags of Rice To Lagos state

Aliko Dangote Foundation has stepped forward to extend a helping hand to vulnerable households in Lagos State by donating a significant quantity of rice.

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, announced on Wednesday, March 27th, that the Lagos State government has received a generous donation of 80,000 units of 10kg bags of rice from the foundation.

The donated bags of rice, a token of support from the Aliko Dangote Foundation, will play a vital role in alleviating food insecurity among vulnerable populations in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging the importance of such contributions in assisting those in need during challenging times.

The philanthropic gesture was personally delivered by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Africa’s foremost industrialist, accompanied by notable personalities including Mr. Femi Otedola and Fatimah Dangote.

This act of generosity underscores Alhaji Dangote’s commitment to social responsibility and his dedication to improving the welfare of communities across Nigeria.

The rice donation, part of the Foundation’s initiative to provide one million bags of rice to families in need nationwide, aligns with the Lagos State government’s ongoing efforts to address food shortages exacerbated by inflation and other economic challenges.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the donated rice will complement existing interventions aimed at supporting citizens facing food insecurity.

Furthermore, the Lagos State government is gearing up to distribute an additional 100,000 combo boxes of food items to households free of charge, in a bid to further alleviate the plight of vulnerable families.

Governor Sanwo-Olu called upon other private organizations to emulate the generosity of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and contribute to collective efforts aimed at assisting those in need.

In his closing remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his confidence in the resilience of the community, expressing optimism that, with concerted efforts and support from various stakeholders, Lagos State will overcome present challenges and emerge stronger.
