Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo has sought the collaboration of the new General Manager of the National Theatre, Mrs. Tola Akerele, in the implementation of transport projects earmarked for implementation within the complex.
The meeting was convened at the instance Mrs. Akerele to explore areas of mutual interest.
According to Mrs. Akinajo, three rail lines – Blue, Red and Yellow – will meet at the National Theatre, a development which would cater to the transport needs of visitors to the complex now known as the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.
She said with the renovation going on at the complex, transportation will enhance the visit of patrons of arts and tourists to the arts complex.
She said with the three rail lines planned for the complex, there was the need for collaboration, planning, and alignment to obtain necessary partnership approvals.
Mrs. Akerele expressed her enthusiasm for the potential partnership, emphasizing the importance of well-planned transport system.
She informed of ongoing developments at the National Theatre, such as park-and-ride facilities, as part of their plan to transform the venue into a world-class event center.
With the MD on the visit were the Director of Rail Transport, Engr. Olasukanmi Okusaga, the Head of Bus Services, Dr. Kemi Amure, and Kolawole Ojelabi, Director of Corporate Communication. On the national theatre end were Mr. Alex Njoku, Special Adviser to the GM, Mr. Femi Joel, Director of Special Duties and Mr. Kabiru Jatto, Accountant, National Theatre.
