SUSPECTED VANDALS OF BRT BUS PARADED AT OSHODI

The Lagos State Police Command today paraded four suspects involved in the vandalism of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle at Alaba Suru on the Badagry Expressway. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight on August 13, 2024, left passengers shaken as the suspects attacked and robbed them on board.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Lawal (35), Abati Daniel (20), Ilesanmi Kazeem (32), and Muhammed Ali (30), were apprehended following a swift investigation by the Lagos State Taskforce on the directives of the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Adegoke Fayode. The suspects are alleged to have maliciously damaged the BRT bus before carrying out their attacks on the passengers and robbing them on the spot.

During the parade of the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, ACP Olushola Oyewole, reiterated the government's zero tolerance for the destruction of public property. He stated, "The Lagos State Government will not take the destruction of public property lightly. We urge anyone contemplating such acts to desist immediately, as we are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state."

Consequently, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele further assured residents and commuters that there is no cause for alarm considering the discomfort such an experience would have caused in their minds.

“We are assuring commutters that we have enforcement officers from the taskforce on the BRT corridors monitoring it round the clock to prevent a reoccurrence of such despicable acts”

The Lagos State Taskforce assures the public that the suspects will be duly prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others who might consider engaging in similar criminal  activities
