Following the engagement of Omo Onile at the Ikorodu North recently, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken It's SGBV awareness campaign to the 'Omo Onile' in Mushin in its heightened efforts to kick SGBV out of Lagos on the 7th of November 2024.
Representative of the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, Head of Community Engagement Department spoke on SGBV, its various forms, breaking the culture of silence on SGBV, the support services and the need to harness our official toll free line, 08000-333-333 to report cases of SGBV.
Also at the event, Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, Head of Field Operations, spoke on the legal consequences of involvement in SGBV and emphasized on the fact that, offenders will face the wrath of the law.
She further spoke on the role of 'OMO ONILE' in combating SGBV and the need for them to know that their collaboration was important in the fight against SGBV.
It can be recalled that the Agency intends that these engagements would be held at 4 strategically picked locations in Lagos.
The efforts of the Lagos State Government in sensitizing the Omo Onile under his jurisdiction was appreciated by Otunba Femi Okuyemi, the Mushin CDC Chairman who noted that the event was a welcomed development.
Educational materials were distributed to further increase awareness to the participants at the event.
