The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) recently engaged stakeholders, youths, children, and elders of Ashafa Community, Ojodu LGA, at the Ashafa Youth Foundation on the 2nd of November, 2024.
This effort is part of the agency's ongoing statewide sensitization initiative, aimed at combating sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and child abuse at the grassroots level.
The Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, who was represented by Mr. Akinde Olatosin emphasized the importance of community collaboration in combating abuse and violence.
Akinde discussed SGBV forms, prevention, myths, reporting procedures, and support services that the state has freely made available to the residents.
He encouraged community members to report incidents of sexual and gender-based violence on behalf of those affected and assured them of confidentiality.
He noted that the initiative demonstrates DSVA's commitment to addressing SGBV and child abuse through community education and collaboration.
Amongst the notable attendees were Mr. Fatoki Emmanuel, Mr. Tunji Ashafa, DPO Ojodu Police Station, and Dr. Keziah Awosika.
Ashafa Youth Leader, Mr. Tunji Ashafa praised the Agency for sharing vital information and promised continued engagement.
The session concluded with the dissemination of the toll-free line (08000-333-333) and participants' commitment to report SGBV cases.
