PROTECT LAGOS ISLAND: TACKLING CULTISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONG TEENS

The Lagos Island Educate Initiatives recently hosted the “Protect Lagos Island” program to prevent and rehabilitate teens at risk of cultism and substance abuse. Over 200 students from 22 schools participated in the impactful event.

Key speakers included Mz. Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, Mr. Mahfuz Alabidun, and Ms. Praise Esor, alongside representatives from the NDLEA and other stakeholders. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), represented by Mrs. Kafayat and Ms. Opemipo, highlighted its role in abuse prevention, survivor support, and stakeholder collaboration. Attendees were reminded of the toll-free helpline—08000-333-333—for reporting abuse.

The program featured interactive group discussions, engaging students on vital life issues, and concluded with certificate presentations to participants. The Lagos DSVA was also awarded a Certificate of Recognition for its valuable contributions.

This initiative demonstrates the collective effort of stakeholders to combat pressing social issues and ensure a safer environment for Lagos Island’s youth.
