The General Manager, Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA), Tpl. Daisi Oso has been recognised as an Ambassador of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA).
According to the Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuela Zamba, the recognition is partly a result of the strategic action plan initiated by the General Manager of LASPEMA to enable LASHMA to utilise its multi-data on the informal sector for the seamless enrollment of operators in that sector.
Speaking at a meeting held recently in Alausa for a mutually beneficial Inter-Agency Corporate Relationship (IACR) between both agencies, the Permanent Secretary harped on the need to strengthen the partnership.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated Tpl Oso for his passion for a more organised Cityscape and various initiatives to re-order the informal Urban Spaces and Incidental Open Spaces across the State for better and inclusive uses that will enhance productivity, orderliness and aesthetics.
To sustain the momentum, Zamba advocated that machinery be put in motion between both Agencies to ensure that LASPEMA re-organizes the vast Informal Urban and Incidental Open spaces across the state so that LASHMA leverages this to capture the operators into 'Ilera Eko'.
“Ilera Eko is an initiative that aims to provide comprehensive universal healthcare coverage for Lagos residents by protecting them from financial distress resulting from huge medical bills”, Zamba added.
Responding, General Manager of LASPEMA, Tpl. Daisi Oso said collaboration is essential by leveraging on the data-collation specialisation by LASPEMA as the repository Agency for vital information on the informal sector stakeholders operating on our Informal Urban Spaces (IUS) / Incidental Open Space (IOS) and other spaces in the State.
He said, “The ongoing re-ordering of Use and Regulation that will guide the users of the Informal Urban Spaces (IUS) and Incidental Open Space (IOS) by LASPEMA will assist LASHMA in the capturing and sequential enrollment of the operators into the Lagos State contributory health insurance scheme otherwise known as "Ilera Eko".
Highlighting the role of data gathered by LASPEMA and the long-term benefits of various planning aspects to achieve LASHMA's enrollment techniques, he commended the management of LASHMA for doing a good job, stressing that all hands should be on deck to support and encourage the Agency in its bid to break new ground.
