The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) has commended the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) for ensuring that the Lagos Transport system remains resilient.
Dr. Folayinka Dania, Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) gave the commendation when she led a LASRO team on an official visit to the office of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in Ojota to assess the Agency's progress in implementing its Lagos Resilience Strategy initiatives. She stated that the visit revealed significant advancements in LAMATA's efforts to enhance the resilience of Lagos' transportation system.
The CRO, represented by Michael Oluwatosin Oluwole, noted that LAMATA has made notable strides in improving the city's transportation infrastructure. Specifically, she stated, LAMATA has constructed an additional multi-modal interchange at the Ojota-Agege terminals, integrated the blue and red rail lines at Marina, and is collaborating with Ogun State to extend the blue line from Okokomaiko and the red line from Agbado to Agbara and Ijoko, respectively.
These initiatives. According to her, this demonstrates LAMATA's commitment to developing a world-class, sustainable, and integrated transport system that satisfies stakeholders and drives the growth of Lagos. Dr. Dania lauded LAMATA for its efforts in enhancing the resilience of Lagos' transportation system and looks forward to continued collaboration.
Osa Kenyeha, representative of the Managing Director and LAMATA team lead, who welcomed the LASRO delegation, explained the various strides recorded by the Agency.
Tpl. Olufemi Dada, a member of the LASRO team, appreciated the performance of the Agency on its initiatives, saying “We have confidence in the LAMATA. The Agency is doing well. More can, however, still be done”.
The Lagos State Resilience Office is tasked with developing a City Resilience Strategy to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, businesses, institutions, and systems within the state to survive, adapt, and grow in the face of chronic stresses and acute shocks.
