... Welcomes IFMA EMEA Boss
As part of strategic preparations for the hosting of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Global Africa Conference (IGAC) 2025, the Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), on Wednesday, received Ms. Lara Paemen, Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa of IFMA, on a courtesy visit.
The meeting, held at LASIAMA's Conference Room in Alausa, brought together key stakeholders in the facility management sector, including top members of the IFMA Lagos Nigeria Chapter and officials from the Lagos State Government.
Receiving the delegation, the General Manager of LASIAMA, Ms. Adenike Adekanbi, expressed delight at the opportunity for Lagos to host the continent-wide conference, describing the visit as a milestone in consolidating the state’s leadership in infrastructure and facility management on the African continent.
“The Global Africa Conference presents an opportunity not only to showcase Lagos as a Centre of Excellence in infrastructure management but also to share our journey from the Office of Facility Management and Maintenance (OFMM) established in 2012 to LASIAMA today,” Adekanbi stated.
'Our systematic approach to asset maintenance does more than preserve public facilities—it creates jobs, attracts study visits from other states, and enhances economic sustainability.”
Adekanbi highlighted how LASIAMA’s comprehensive asset register, developed under the administration of former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, aligns with international standards and enhances Lagos State’s creditworthiness.
She noted the importance of collaboration with agencies such as the Lagos State Safety Commission and LASTMA for the successful delivery of the IFMA event.
With over 25,000 members in 96 countries, IFMA is the world's largest and most widely recognised professional association for facility management.
Ms. Paemen, in her remarks, acknowledged Nigeria’s growing influence in the global FM landscape and described the 2025 Global Africa Conference - scheduled for August 19th–20th in Lagos - as a critical platform for thought leadership, innovation, and strategic collaboration in the sector.
“The inaugural IFMA Global Africa Conference was hosted in Ghana, and it’s inspiring to see Nigeria stepping up to continue this important journey. Lagos is vibrant, cosmopolitan, and has all the right elements to host a world-class event,” Paemen said.
Former IFMA Lagos Chapter President, Mr. Segun Adebayo, and current President, Engr. Sheriff Daramola, also spoke at the event, underscoring the chapter’s 27-year legacy in capacity building, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
As Lagos prepares to welcome delegates from across Africa and beyond, the visit by IFMA’s top official is seen as a major step in aligning expectations and ensuring the delivery of a successful and impactful conference.
