North Western Marine Command Pays Condolence Visit to Maigari of Lokoja

 



In a gesture of respect and solidarity, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) North Western Marine Command, Lokoja, on 8 April 2025, in Lokoja the Kogi State capital paid a condolence visit to His Royal Highness, Dr Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, the Maigari of Lokoja, following the passing of Mallam Danjuma Bature.


The visit, led by the Acting Customs Area Controller (Ag. CAC) of the North Western Marine Command, Deputy Comptroller Haliru Abdullahi, was marked by solemnity and cultural reverence, as the Customs delegation extended heartfelt sympathies to the monarch, his council, and the entire Lokoja community.


The Ag. CAC noted that the visit was not only to condole with the traditional ruler but also to reaffirm the long-standing relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and traditional institutions in the region.


During the visit, the command presented a Merit Award to His Royal Highness Dr Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, in recognition of his unwavering support for Customs operations and community development in Kogi State.


“We are here to console with you on the loss of Mallam Danjuma Bature, a respected son of the soil, and also to acknowledge your tireless support for peace and cooperation in our area of operations,” Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi stated.


The Maigari of Lokoja appreciated the visit and expressed his continued support for the Service in its mission to safeguard the nation’s economic integrity. “I appreciate your visit and will continue to support you in your efforts to safeguard the economy of Nigeria,” he stated.


The North Western Marine Command, which falls under Zone B of the Nigeria Customs Service, plays a crucial role in securing Nigeria’s inland waterways and combating smuggling activities around the River Niger axis. 


The visit reflects the Customs Service’s commitment to fostering strong community relations while carrying out its statutory responsibilities.


It may be recalled that Deputy Comptroller Haliru Abdullahi, who was the Deputy Provost Marshal Admin/ General Duties, Nigeria Customs Police, at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service  was recently deployed and resumed on Thursday 3 April 2025 as Acting Customs Area Controller, North Western Marine Command, Lokoja.
