The Christ Morning Star Nigeria, one of the leading societies in the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion was on Sunday honours the Lagos State House of Assembly member and Spokesperson, Hon (Otunba) Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode popularly known as Omoj'omolo and six others as patrons and matrons of the society.
At the event, the priest of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, The Ven Kelvin Tope-Tapere, the Archdeacon of Oshodi Archdeaconry urged members of the Christ Morning Star, Lagos Chapter and the newly inducted patrons and matrons to serve God diligently and in holiness.
The admonition was contained in his sermon delivered at the Investiture/Inauguration ceremony of new executive members and Patrons and Matrons of the Society in Lagos held at All Saints Church, Oshodi Lagos on Sunday.
“For God who has called you to serve in this capacity, I urge u to serve him diligently and pray ceaselessly for the church and our leaders.
“Your society has been a shining example among societies in the church of Nigeria, therefore, you must continue to lead by example.
“Our Church and our leaders needs of prayers so l enjoin you to continue to pray for us,” Tapere said.
To the newly inaugurated Patrons and Matrons, Ven Tapere urged them to nurture the society and make it a leading society in the Church of Nigeria preparing members and other people for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
In his remarks, Hon Ogundipe thanked God Almighty for preservation of life and counting worthy of such honour. He also appealed to Nigerians to pray for those in position of authority so that they can enable to deliver on their promises and dividends of democracy.
"Let me first of all thank God Almighty for this honour done to me. I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to Nigerians to ensure they continually pray for those in position of authority instead of lamentations and cursing them. It is only those God touches our hearts that serves with conscience and it is only those that serves with conscience that delivers the dividends of democracy. In doing this, our hope shall be renewed as a nation." Ogundipe concluded.
