Fatodu Charges Athletes To Remain Resolute As They Prepare For "Gateway Games 2024"

 

With the commencement  of the National Sports Festival tagged "Gateway Games 2024", the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has charged athletes to up their game as they prepare for the multi-sport event billed to hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Fatodu made the charge during his visit to the athletes camp at the Akinde Anglican church Hostel, Igbo-Igunnu, Bariga, Lagos.

As a state that prioritized the welfare of athletes, making logistics easier to different training venues and having completed their opening camp which dovetail into closed camp exercise, efforts are ongoing to ensure a proper preparation for the games.

Fatodu reiterated the state government commitment in promoting inclusivity through sports, while urging the athletes to up their games as the state will not only feature athletes, but also providing a sustainable platform for everyone to excel and see sport as a catalyst for human development.

He added, "Let's us be optimistic, determine,and confidence that at the end of the day, it's going to be a moment of victory and big celebration. We value you, we appreciate you, and we respect the energy, skills,commitment, and discipline that you have brought to sports. You are part of the reasons why people talk about sporting excellence in Lagos.

" We must appreciate our opportunity of representing Lagos State at this moment. We must also appreciate the kind of leadership that we have at this moment," said Fatodu.

The LSSC boss assured the athletes that there are instant awards and rewards for outstanding performers at the games. He also charged them to put in their best as the state continues to do its own part and best in ensuring a successful outing.

Speaking further, Fatodu said he believes very strongly that  with the athletes' commitment and dedication to the cause, Lagos will come out victorious.

He stated that “Mr Governor is a man who's always moved by great performance and event that continues to position the state as the leaders particularly in sports”.

"I'm extremely part of you.And l know that you will even make us prouder at the national Sports Festival in Ogun State," Fatodu submitted.
