The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) are teaming up to equip Nigerian youths with in-demand skills, making them more competitive in the job market. This partnership aims to shift the focus from traditional government jobs to private sector opportunities, which offer better pay and faster growth.
During a courtesy call in NDE Headquarters in Abuja, the Director-General of the NDE, H.E Silas Ali Agara emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying "labour has no boundary." He highlighted the need for Nigerian youths to acquire skills that can earn them jobs globally. The DG-NDE noted that government jobs are becoming increasingly scarce and that NDE is working to change this perception by partnering with organizations like IPA.
The Country Director of IPA, Mrs. Funmi Ayeni outlined her organization's mandate, which includes designing innovative solutions, generating data, and scaling effective approaches. This partnership has the potential to transform the lives of Nigerian youths, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the job market and contribute to the country's economic growth. By working together, NDE and IPA can empower young Nigerians to access better job opportunities.
