The Lagos State Government has joined Osun and some other states that's have declared August 20 as isese day, which is a day specifically set aside for the celebration of indigenous religion , as the state government on Monday declared Wednesday 20th August 2025 as public holiday
A circular dated 18th August and signed by the Head of Service, Lagos State, Mr. Bode Agoro has, yet again, bequeathed recognition on the traditional religion worshippers via a declaration of Wednesday 20th August as a work-free day in the state in commemoration of this year's Isese Day Celebrations.
According to the circular, the state governor's decision is to reaffirm the commitment of his administration towards promoting the state's indigenous culture, tradition and preserving her heritage while providing necessary support for the traditional institution in the 'state of aquatic splendour'.
To this end, work resumes on Thursday August 21 at all government offices.
