The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, on Thursday, decorated newly promoted officers with a charge to uphold integrity, professionalism, and renewed dedication to national service
Addressing the officers at the ceremony, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, congratulated them on their elevation, which he described as “a reward for diligence, innovation, and commitment.”
He reminded the officers that their new ranks come with greater responsibility, especially in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and asset management.
“You are required to play significant roles in ensuring the command achieves its purpose, particularly in maximising revenue, promoting economic growth, enhancing financial security, and ensuring compliance with trade regulations”, Oshoba said.
The CAC commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management team for upholding merit-based promotions, adding that the Service expects more from those elevated.
"I expect you to make a positive impact in your new roles and contribute to the growth of the Service and the nation”, he added.
The CAC also encouraged officers yet to be promoted not to lose hope, assuring them that their hard work and dedication will be rewarded in due time.
The ceremony drew representatives from sister agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Immigration Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its contributions to national economic security and urged the officers to remain loyal to the country.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Chief Superintendent of Customs Bello Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Comptroller-General of Customs, and the NCS management for the recognition. He dedicated the promotion to teamwork within the Service and the unwavering support of their families.
