IPCR Takes Peace Day To Another Level, Makes Statement With Rally

Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), witnessed an unforgettable display of unity and commitment to peace on Monday, as the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) took the celebration of the International Day of Peace to new heights.

IPCR orchestrated a massive rally that brought together diverse groups from across Nigeria, effectively shutting down parts of the Federal Capital Territory in a powerful show of collective pursuit of peace.

The streets of Abuja pulsed with energy as participants from various backgrounds – government officials, civil society organizations, religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, and everyday citizens – converged for the impactful event.

Organized under the theme "Act Now for Peace," the rally underscored IPCR's dedication to fostering harmony and addressing Nigeria's complex peace and security challenges.

Recall that the Director-General of IPCR, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, had emphasized the urgency of peace efforts, urging Nigerians to embrace proactive roles in building peaceful communities.

The rally drew significant attention, with participants wearing branded T-Shirts with "International Day Of Peace," creating a sea of colorful determination across Abuja’s streets.

Marking IPCR’s 25th anniversary, the event showcased the institute’s growth and impactful interventions in Nigeria’s peacebuilding landscape. The celebration reinforced partnerships and spotlighted collaborative efforts needed to tackle contemporary threats to peace like insecurity and communal tensions.
