LAGOS COMPLETES REPAIR OF OGUDU IFAKO BRIDGE 27 DAYS AHEAD OF TIME

…..Opens Bridge For Public Use, 

………Thank Lagosians For Perseverance During Repair Works

In furtherance of the Lagos State Government's efforts to reduce the traffic gridlocks experienced by commuters on the 3rd Axial Road inwards Ogudu, which was necessitated by the repair works being carried out on the Bridge section, the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Administration has completed the repair works on the Ogudu Ifako Bridge and opened the Bridge for public use 27 days ahead of the projected date.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engineer Olufemi Daramola, who made this known today, said as part of efforts to ensure rehabilitation of bridges in the State and given the high premium the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu places on the commuting convenience of the people, the Governor directed that works on the Bridge be hastened to ensure timely completion.
He said we planned to complete this work over three months but with transportation and all of the stakeholders present, the contractors, the media, the police and various security units, we've been able to complete the project in 73 days; today, this road will be open for vehicular use totally if you recall the process has been planned because there are four expansion joints are four different locations with about 300 meters span difference.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure said that the construction of the bridge was completed in record time because the Government directed the contractors to ensure that the work was completed ahead of time to ease the hardship currently experienced by road users.

According to Daramola, “We gave a timeline. We can recall that we said we would complete both bounds, both the island and the mainland bounds, we have projected over a hundred and one days but with the synergy we had with the Ministry of Transportation and all other stakeholders including the contractors the media and the security units we've been able to complete it in 73 days and today this road will be open for vehicular use. 

After an inspection of the completed repair works on the bridge by a team comprising Lagos State Government Officials from the Ministry of Transportation and the Office of Infrastructure, the Special Adviser said, In line with its policy on Bridge Maintenance & Management, the Lagos State Government commenced routine maintenance works on Bridges across the State

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure said, “He said on our attitude why did we get here it was about road abuse it was about vandalism which is something we've been talking about which is something that we said it's a joint effort it's for all of us it's taxpayers money, it's our infrastructure for a greater lagos let's all take ownership.

The Commissioner of Transportation, who declared the Bridge opened, said the State Government is not unmindful of the inconvenience the maintenance works had on commuters. He, however, thanked Lagosians, and the motoring public thanked commuters for their patience and cooperation with traffic management officials while the rehabilitation work lasted.

According to the Commissioner, “The government is not unmindful of the inconvenience the maintenance works are having on commuters. He said the early opening of the Bridge ahead of the projected completion date, aside from demonstrating the responsiveness of the administration, also is an affirmation that the Lagos State Government is irrevocably committed to making the State work for the citizenry and to providing top-class infrastructure that will facilitate safe movement of people, goods and materials.
