The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu and the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, on behalf of the State Government, flagged off the 2025 Indian Cultural Association Viksit Bharat Run at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
The Y2025 Viksit Bharat Run aligns with the state government initiatives to educate and encourage the populace and every resident to be aware of the significance of regular exercise and physical fitness in promoting an active lifestyle and optimal performances.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony, the DG of LSSC, Lekan Fatodu, reiterated the government's commitment in supporting initiatives that tend to uplift the standard of residents, fostering community engagement and imbibing the culture of participating in activities that contribute to general well-being.
"This is basically to demonstrate the interrelationship that exists between India and Nigeria. As a state government, we are very proud of this initiative. The Consular General has reminded us of Vision 2047, and the vision is similar to what we do in Lagos State. We want to make the Indian Community in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos State, as a point of reference in excellence and sustainable development."
Honourable Commissioner Mobolaji noted, "We recognised each and every community in Lagos. That's why we come out here to support you and to let you know that we are partners in progress. There's power in collaboration. This is Lagos, I'm not surprised this is happening in Lagos because we are the centre of excellence, the state of aquatic splendour, and the financial hub of Africa."
Ogunlende explained that the state is ready to collaborate as a government, noting that the world is a global village and the world is becoming smaller. "If you are trying to achieve 2047, you must carry everybody along and as Lagos state government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. We leave no one behind."
“Let's take this first step together, and I'm excited to start this new relationship. Together, we can achieve great things”, he said.
