The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building an agile and smart workforce with the successful completion of more than 20 training programmes in the second and third quarters of 2025.
The programmes, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, benefitted over 3,000 officers across the State’s Public Service, cutting across virtually all cadres of officers in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The focus was on enhancing both job-specific competencies and generic skills that are vital for effective service delivery.
The training sessions addressed diverse and critical areas including Unlocking Liquidity Through Transformational Leadership; Financial Management and Planning, Leveraging Talent Development for the Next Public Service; Fostering a Culture of Creativity and Innovation in the Workplace, Strategies for Eliminating Bottlenecks in Procurement, Leadership and Management in Social Workers Supervision and Marketing, Data-Driven Decision Making in the Public Sector, and Risk-Based Internal Audit Technologies, among others.
The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo described the development as a demonstration of the present administration’s determination to strengthen human capital in the State’s Public Service.
According to him, the scope and reach of the training programmes demonstrate the state government’s resolve to empower officers with technical knowledge and managerial skills essential for providing exceptional services to Lagosians. He emphasised that a strong and well-equipped workforce remains the bedrock of sustainable development.
In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun expressed satisfaction with the impact of the programmes, noting that the deliberate blend of specialised courses with cross-cutting soft skills has enabled officers to perform optimally in their various roles. She observed that feedback from participants has been encouraging and that the ripple effect will be reflected in greater efficiency across MDAs.
The Ministry also announced that a new phase of training programmes is scheduled for the fourth quarter, commencing on October 2, 2025. These sessions will consolidate the gains already recorded and introduce fresh learning areas that respond to the evolving demands of public service delivery.
The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Establishments and Training, restated its commitment to continuous investment in capacity building as a non-negotiable driver of sustainable governance and improved service delivery for all residents of the State.
