....thank Bayelsans for their support to prosperity government
Local Government Chairmen of Bayelsa state under the auspices of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), have backed the decision of the governor, Senator Douye Diri to resign from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
The association made the statement at a press conference held at it's Secretariat in Yenagoa, stating that they stand where the governor stands.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Chairman of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Hon. Lelei Tariye Isaac gave the crisis rocking the People's Democratic Party as the reason for their resignation, while thanking Bayelsans for their support for the Prosperity Government.
"We are indeed, grateful for the opportunity to serve you for the past one and half year. We were elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party, and today, we are aware that our leader, the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, formally resigned his membership of the People's Democratic Party.
As Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors and other appointees of the Local Government Areas, we support the decision of our governor, we stand with him and consequently, we hereby resign our membership of the People's Democratic Party.
Present at the press conference were Hon. David Alagoa, Chairman of Nembe Local Government Area, Hon. Target Isaiah Segibo, Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Other Chairmen include, Hon. Isaac Onniye, Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area and Hon. Golden Jeremiah, Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area.
Hon. Alice Allen Tangi, Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area and Hon. Lucky Febo, Chairman of Brass Local Government Area were not able to make the conference.
