PSC elevates 1 to DIG, 7 to AIG, 13 to CP, 30 to DCP, Among Others, Tasks Beneficiaries to Brace Up to New responsibilities
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of some senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to various higher ranks, following rigorous written examinations and oral interviews concluded on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
In the exercise, presided over by the Commission's Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), AIG Mohammed Usman Gumel was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).
He was, prior his promotion, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Community Policing Project (CPP) Department, Research and Planning of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters in Abuja.
Also elevated, according to a statement issued by the Commission's Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu were seven Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).
The list comprised Ihebom Chukwuma, CP Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja; Maxwell Olatokunbo, CP K9; Abaniwonda Olufemi, CP Delta State; Alonyenu Francis Idu, CP Bayelsa State; Lawal B. Ayodeji, CP AHTU, FCID Annex Lagos; Agene Emmanuel, FCID Kaduna; Vungmoh S.M Kwaimo, CP Railway.
13 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were Promoted to CPs. They are Babalola Ayodeji Johnson, DC NPF NCCC; Ali Umar Fage, DC DFA, Port Authority, Lagos; Cyril Uche Obiozo, DC Admin, Cross River Command; Adepegba K. Adetoye, DC Admin, Edo Command; Tabitha Bako, Anti-human Trafficking, FCID; Ofem Ikpi Arikpo, DCA Bayelsa Command; Edwin Ogbeghagha, DC Ops Zone 17, Akure; and Audu Garba Bosso, DC Operations Borno State Command.
Others were Samuel Yerima Gimba, DC “A”, Benue State; Alhaji Mohammed Danladi, DC “A” Taraba: Richard Bala Gara, DC DFA, Nasarawa; Lasisi Adekunle Titilola, DC X Squad FCID, Lagos; and John Obiuagbaka, Staff College Jaji.
In the cadre of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) 30 officers were promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs). They include Muhammad Nuhu Diggi, AC Dala Kano; Udu Moses Ogechi, Commander, 59 PMF, Gombe; Afolaogun Toyin, C/O 16 PMF, Abeokuta; Abdullahi Dahiru, S/H; Hassan S. Aliyu, C/O 13 PMF; and Alex O. Ebbah, AC X-Squad, FCT.
Others were Ajasa Hakeem O, C/O 4 PMF, Ibadan; Adedeji Adefolarin, A/CM Ilesha; Agboola Abiodun M., C/O 26 PMF, Uyo; Onaghise Shelley Osayande, AC ‘A” Dops FHQ; Titus Ayodeji, C/O 33 PMF, Ado Ekiti, Garba Fakai Umar, A/C Osogbo; among others.
51 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were moved to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), some of whom were Davidson Okechukwu Ndubueze, DPO Okija; Muktari Bello, Delta state Command; Obediah Okezie, DPO World Bank Umuahia.
From Superintendents of Police (SPs) to Chief Superintendents (CSPs) were 542 beneficiaries, among whom were Ekere Ferdinand, Commander, CTU Base 1, Abuja; Anthony Elijah Kwada, O/C Provost IGP-STFPIB FHQ, Abuja; Lucas Yohanna, former ADC to Adamawa State Governor; Ologede Babatunde, 20 PMF, Ikeja; Lucky Chukwusa, DCO, Sango-Ota Division, Ogun; Okunoye Akindele, DPO; Adeyemi Lateef, Anambra Command; Umeh Helen Nkechi; and Philip Gloria.
Also promoted CSPs were Ibrahim Lawan Rano, 2ic Anti Money Laundering, FCT Command, Abuja; Pauline Okafor, DCO, CPS, Onitsha; Chris Onubogu, AO, 64 PMF, Orlu; Ojimenlu Andrew Yakubu, DCO, Ikpoba Hill Division, Benin; Bilkisu Shuaibu, FCT Command; Gimbia Audu; Ibironke Latifa Aremu; Hassan Muhammad Misau; and others.
119 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs) were promoted to Superintendents of Police (SPs), some of whom were Ahmed Abdulmumuni, ADC to Governor of Imo State; Simon Michael, 22 PMF, Ikeja, Lagos; Utuh Edward, 24 PMF; Shehu Salisu, Kano State Command; and Chukwu Otuu Chukwu, Zone 2, Lagos;
In that same category were Ani Kingsley, GIS FCID, Abuja; Yakubu Dung, Force HQTRS; Shehu S. Salisu, Kano State Command; Smart Osadolor, Lagos State Command; Yusuf Francis Moses, Unit Commander, 44 PMF; Abraham Sule Ogufa, O/C Provost, Base 29, FHQ, Abuja; and others.
12 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPs) were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
The PSC Chairman congratulated the newly promoted officers and tasked them to brace up to their new responsibilities with greater commitment to the service of the nation, emphasizing that promotion comes with higher expectations, and urged the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to effective policing, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order.
DIG Argungu, however, reiterated the Commission's resolve to ensure regular, merit-based promotions, in line with best practices.
