The Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa, IGLSA has concluded plan to engage selected members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Saki, Oke –Ogun area of Oyo state in a rigorous training for leadership practice. The Acting Registrar of the Institute, Professor Salihu Lawal who drops this hint during a media parley in Abuja on Monday added that the program, tagged: Youth Mentoring Training Program will empower the participants to brace up to the challenges of modern leadership and governance system and instill basic leadership traits in the participants.
The institute also announced that a prestigious fellowships and awards will be bestowed on six eminent personalities of Oyo state origin for their exceptional contributions and outstanding service at community, state, national, and international levels. The event, according to Prof. Lawal is scheduled to hold between Friday 10th and Saturday, 11th April 2026, at the Saki City Hall, Oyo State.
Among the distinguished awardees are His Royal Majesty, Oba (Surveyor) Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, the Okere of Saki; His Excellency Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, APC State Party Chairman; Mr. Oluwole Oladokun, Chairman of the Saki Parapo Association; Retired Hon. Justice Dr. Munta Ladi Abimbola; Col. Dr. Gbenga Adegbola; and Dr. Ismail Adewoyin, a House of Representatives hopeful for the Saki West, Saki East, and ATISBO Federal Constituency in 2027.
The Ag. Registrar noted that the training of selected party supporters will commenced on Friday while the fellowship and award ceremony will be held on Saturday.
“Six influential personalities from Oyo State were carefully selected for their remarkable achievements and impactful contributions across various spheres of society. Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III stands out as the most educated monarch in the history of Saki’s traditional institution. His extensive travels, both locally and internationally, have fostered meaningful partnerships and driven development across Saki and the broader Oke-Ogun region, while his forthright engagement on national issues continues to command respect’.
‘Mr. Oluwole Oladokun, a former Permanent Secretary at the Governor’s Office who served under nine administrations—both military and civilian—has leveraged his vast experience to advance the Saki community through his leadership as Chairman of the Saki Parapo Association. Working closely with Dr. Ismail Adewoyin, the Association’s Secretary, the duo has delivered impactful initiatives, including environmental sustainability efforts that curbed deforestation through strategic partnerships. This led to the distribution of 10,000 Pakia seedlings to farmers and neighboring communities, alongside several other development projects achieved within a short period’.
‘Dr. Ismail Adewoyin is not only a seasoned estate surveyor and valuer of high repute but also an accomplished academic. With over 27 scholarly articles published in both local and international journals, he has made significant contributions to research and professional knowledge. His consulting experience with international telecommunications companies, coupled with extensive travel across nearly 90% of Nigeria, further reflects his depth of expertise, intellectual capacity, and commitment to national development’.
‘Retired Hon. Justice Dr. Munta Ladi Abimbola is celebrated as a legal luminary and an incorruptible jurist. As the longest-serving Chief Judge of Oyo State, with nine years in office, a three-time member of the National Judicial Commission, and now a Life Bencher, his legacy includes landmark judgments referenced globally—most notably the widely known case, “Divorce Your Wife and Lose Your Property.”
‘Col. Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, a philanthropist and APC gubernatorial aspirant for 2027, is equally recognized for his service and generosity. During his military career, he facilitated the establishment of the Command Science Secondary School in Saki and personally transformed the Saki Central Mosque into a modern heritage center’.
Prof Lawal added that the recognition by the Institute underscores a shared commitment to leadership, service, and sustainable development, celebrating individuals whose efforts has continued to shape a better future for their communities and beyond’’.
