Oluyede Blasts Oyebanji Over Bad Governance, Re-election Desperation

A leading governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, has criticised Governor Biodun Oyebanji over what he described as poor governance and growing desperation for re-election.

In a statement made available to journalists on Monday through the Oluyede Media and Strategic Communications Team and signed by its Head, Olanrewaju Adams, Oluyede said the current administration has failed to deliver meaningful development despite significant financial inflows to the state.

He lamented that critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation have not witnessed the level of improvement expected, leaving many residents grappling with worsening economic realities.

According to him, “Ekiti people are witnessing a government that is heavy on rhetoric but light on results. Across key sectors, there is little evidence of impactful governance, while the socio-economic conditions of the people continue to worsen.”

Oluyede further noted that the disconnect between government claims and the lived realities of the people has continued to widen, raising concerns about transparency, accountability, and effective utilisation of public resources.

He accused Governor Oyebanji of shifting focus from governance to early politicking, noting that the administration appears more concerned about securing a second term than addressing pressing challenges facing the state.

“It is disappointing that a government still struggling with basic developmental issues is already consumed by re-election ambitions. Ekiti deserves leadership that prioritises service delivery, fiscal discipline, and measurable progress over political survival,” he stated.

Oluyede further called on the governor to give a detailed and transparent account of how state resources, particularly funds received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), have been utilised, insisting that the people have a right to know how public funds are being spent.

He urged the people of Ekiti to demand accountability, remain vigilant, and actively engage in issue-based discourse as the 2026 governorship election approaches.

“As we move closer to the next election, the focus must be on competence, accountability, and credible alternatives. Ekiti people deserve better governance built on sincerity, transparency, and results, not promises without delivery,” he added.
