As the global Muslim community is set to commemorate Eid-el-Kabir Celebration, Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) has preached safety precautions, love for one another, peaceful co-existence and care for less privileged members of the society, saying these are virtues which people must imbibe during and beyond the Eid-el-Kabir Celebration.
The General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Tiamiyu Afusat, stated this in her Salah message to the Muslim Ummah, explaining that Eid-el-Kabir is traditionally a feast of sacrifice which provides an opportunity for all Muslims to reflect on the sanctity of lives and mercies shown to mankind by God, evidenced by the substitution of a ram for the life of Ismail.
Consequently, Tiamiyu urged motorists to “embrace the recommended speed limits to maintain full control of the vehicle, ensure your car is roadworthy before embarking on any trip, avoid night travel by scheduling your trips for the daytime to avoid poor visibility and inherent risk of night journey”.
She assured members of the public that the Lagos State Government's commitment to ensuring a safer road environment before, during and after any celebration that attracts increased human and vehicular traffic remains unwavering.
Tiamiyu admonished the motoring public to drive with care and show patience to other road users as a reflection of the spirit of sacrifice which the season symbolises. She restated the commitment of LASDRI to sustaining the present collaboration with other safety and traffic management agencies towards effective enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
She wished all Muslim faithful and Lagosians a peaceful, joyful, and accident- free celebration.
