...We killed her to teach her a lesson - Principal Suspect
The Ogun State Police Command said it has cracked the double murder of Ogun State based Broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard Pelumi Adetayo by arresting her former security guard who planned the killing alongside two accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni during a press conference on Wednesday June 25,2026 said a former security guard of the deceased Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, led the gang that killed the duo. Phillip recruited Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer and the three invaded the house of the deceased to carry out the Dastardly act on Sunday June 21,2026. He said their intention was to kill the woman in order to teach her a lesson for treating him shabbily when he worked with her.
Ojajuni said the principal accused was arrested on June 24 at a building site in Ibara Abeokuta GRA and he led detectives to his co-conspirators.
Ojajuni said during interrogation the suspects confessed they "first overpowered the deceased security guard before gaining access into the broadcaster’s apartment and killing her. Thereafter, they proceeded to killing the security guard.The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,”.
In the course of investigation detectives recovered several exhibits linked to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen.
According to Ojajuni," The suspects carried out the act on Saturday, 20th June, 2026, in the afternoon. According to the statement, they first overpowered the security guard, Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years, and used him to gain access to the residence. Upon gaining entry, they attacked Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and subsequently murdered the security guard.
After committing the crime, the suspects fled the scene with the deceased's Lexus RX 330 vehicle, which was later recovered through intelligence-led and technical tracking operations at Onikolobo area of Ogun state.
The criminal conspiracy involving Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip ‘m’ aged 22 years, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola ‘m’ aged 27 years, and Sobu Obafunsho ‘m’ aged 36 years ultimately resulted in the tragic deaths of both Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years."
He added that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
