The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to leveraging digital platforms for real-time public communication as part of efforts to tackle misinformation and propaganda, while ensuring Nigerians have timely access to accurate, credible and verified information.
The DG made this known while receiving a delegation from the National Digital Command and Policy Intelligence (NDCPI) at the Agency's headquarters in Abuja.
Issa-Onilu, who stated that the Agency has developed CLHEEAN, an AI-powered platform that enables it to respond to emerging public issues and provide citizens with factual information on government activities, programmes, and policies, also noted that the platform is similar to the one developed by the NDCPI.
The DG also assured the NDCPI team of the Agency's readiness to come on board the platform, which is designed to support data-driven decision-making, enhance multilingual reach, establish truth, strengthen civic connection, and provide users with responses and alerts on emerging issues requiring attention.
The Team Lead of the visiting team and Special Assistant to the President on Digital/New Media, Mr Otega Ogra, expressed his excitement over the transformation and revitalisation of the Agency under the leadership of the current DG NOA since he assumed office. He also disclosed that the team is working towards establishing content studios across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) nationwide.
Onilu took the team members on a tour of the Agency’s TV studios and other public enlightenment production centres.
