The Lagos State Police Command has arrested over 50 suspects in the aftermath of the Ile-Epo civil disorder, a causal effect of clashes between some youths and hoodlums.
The command, according to a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, also pulled down the shanties occupied by the hoodlums.
However, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the immediate prosecution of the arrested hoodlums, even as he warned that the command would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the peace, in accordance with the law.
Hundeyin stated that the upheaval was put under check by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ile-Epo, adding that normalcy have since been restored in the troubled area.
Meanwhile, in order to forestall further breakdown of law and order, "the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lagos State Police Command (ACops), Area Commander Alagbado and other Divisional Police Officers under the Area Command are currently on ground", the statement added.
