Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended the BAO Mega Empowerment Programme, calling it the first of its kind in Ifako Ijaiye. He made this remark during the groundbreaking event at African Church Primary School, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos State.
The BAO Empowerment Programme was established to uplift school children, youths, market women, artisans, community and traditional leaders, and party members by providing vocational training, resources, and financial support. This initiative aims to equip residents and indigenes of the Ifako Ijaiye Federal Constituency with the tools and knowledge to build sustainable businesses and enterprises.
The programme’s success was evident with an impressive turnout and a wide array of empowerment items distributed to beneficiaries, including:
177 Sewing Machines to bolster the textile industry.
130 Generators to enhance small-scale businesses.
110 Hair Dryers for salon operators.
164 Grinding Machines for food vendors and entrepreneurs.
With Hand Dryers for hairdressing facilities.
Training for 150 individuals in various vocations.
Cash support of ₦100,000 each for 300 beneficiaries.(NGN 30,000,000) Thirty million naira.
One Ambulance for emergency services.
BAO Cooperatives for community development with NGN 10,000,000 (Ten million naira) donations.
Two Community Development Centers (CDCs). With NGN 5,000,000 each. (Ten million naira in total)
Educational and sports equipment, including table tennis boards, football boots, volleyballs, football jerseys, and basketballs with nets.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including APC Lagos State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka; Ifako Ijaiye Executive Chairman, Hon. Usman Akanbi Hamzat; Ojokoro LCDA Chairman, Hon. Hamed Idowu Tijani; and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Temitope Adewale (Ifako Ijaiye 01) and Hon. Emmanuel Olotu (Ifako Ijaiye 02). Also in attendance were community leaders Pastor Samuel Opajobi (Ifako CDC Chairman) and Chief Samuel O. Alabi (Ojokoro CDC Chairman).
The programme emphasized fairness in the distribution of materials, ensuring beneficiaries were selected without political bias. Many recipients expressed gratitude to the Member of the House of Representatives (MHR) and the Federal Government for their support, describing the initiative as life-changing.
Speakers at the event echoed Pastor Ojelabi’s sentiments, affirming the programme’s uniqueness in Ifako Ijaiye. In his address, BAO thanked the dignitaries for their presence and encouragement. He reassured constituents of his commitment to doing more, stating that while unforeseen challenges had slowed progress, this event marked the beginning of greater opportunities for the people of Ifako Ijaiye.
