The harmful act of girls circumcision which has claimed the lives of some of our innocent young girls and has ruined the lives of several other girls is a thing that should be stopped .
In the year 2023, the life of Halima Amuni was cut short due to the complications and infections after the act of circumcision done to her by her family in Epe. This harmful practice is evil and should never be allowed to stay in our society.
The Amuni family is yet to relent on circumcision done on their young girls. To this family its a do or die practice. This January 8th 2024 there was an attempt to abduct another young girl from her school named Qawiyyah Amuni for circumcision. The father of the girl Abdulai Amuni refused to submit his daughter to the family for circumcision, and the family has been hell bent on doing it forcefully. The society in general needs to stand up in unity to fight against this harmful practice and also to protect our girl child. An innocent young girl living in fear that one day she will be forcefully circumcised is really a sad thing. Who knows what will be the outcome? Death like the case of Halima? Infections and other injuries like the cases of several other girls? It is sad that the society cannot protect our girls.
The law enforcement agents needs to do more to completely eradicate this evil and barbaric act to save the lives of the girls child.
