HON OGUNDIPE CLEAR AIRS ON ALLEGED EXECUTIVE-LEGISLATIVE FACE OFF

 




 _*As Lagos Assembly passes N3. 4Trn Budget for 2025*_ 


The Lagos State House of Assembly Spokesperson, Hon Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode has cleared airs on the rumored disagreement between the arms of government in Lagos. 


Ogundipe who is also the Chairman House Committee on Information Strategy and Security spoke in live interview with TVC News at 10 yesterday on the analysis of the 2025 Budget passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly. He said what many termed as disagreement is a normal norms in democracy which is rather more of collaborative efforts towards development and encourages checks and balances among the three arms of government in the interest of the public. Ogundipe also emphasized on the transformative role of the budget taking into consideration the Governor Sanwo-Olu's THEMES agenda. 


According to Hon Ogundipe, the House approved a total sum of N3,366,815,224,144 as the total budget of the state for 2025.


The House passed the budget after careful consideration of a report on the budget by the chairman of the joint committee on appropriation and finance, Hon. Sa'ad Olumoh. 


The approved budget is made of N1,295,630,197,452 as recurrent expenditure while N2,071,185,026,692 is earmarked as capital expenditure for the year ending December 31, 2025.


Hon Ogundipe representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-1 commended his colleagues for their painstaking efforts leading to the passage of the budget and also appreciated the Governor Sanwo-Olu's laudable programmes proposed in the in budget. He said Lagosians should expect better budget performance in all sectors as factored in the THEMES agenda.  


Recall that Sanwo-Olu had on November 21, presented a proposal of N3.005 trillion to the House for approval.


The Governor, during the presentation, told the lawmakers that the budget has a deficit financing of N408,902 billion adding that the deficit would be financed from external and internal loans and bonds.
