Alleged sexual Assault: Lagos First Lady, DSVA Intervene

The First Lady of Lagos state, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and  the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) have intervened in the defilement case involving a 12-year-old girl in the Ayobo area of Lagos State.

According to reports, the teenager was allegedly sexually abused by 25-year-old Farouk Alayande, also known as Lumi, at 13 Oguntaiwo Street, Anisere Ayobo Ipaja, Lagos, on Friday, May 9, 2025.

The survivor, whose name was withheld and lives at 5 Oguntaiwo Street, Anisere Ayobo Ipaja, returned from school that day and went to buy water from the shop in Alayande’s grandmother’s house before she was lured inside and defiled.

It was also reported that Farouk’s grandmother, who can no longer walk, asked the girl to come inside the shop to take the water and assist her in attending to someone else waiting for a soft drink.

While the girl was trying to give the customer the soft drink, Alayande allegedly walked in and told the survivor that there were no cold drinks in the store’s fridge and that she should follow him inside to see where the cold drinks were.

When the survivor’s mother noticed bloodstains on her body, she asked her if she had fought with someone, as she had had her menstrual flow a week before the incident.

The survivor then told her mother what had happened, and she was taken to Igando General Hospital the following day.It was alleged that the family, who pleaded with the girl’s parents to drop the charges, claimed that she was not sexually abused because they were lovers.

DSVA, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Adejoke Oladenegan, said: “We are deeply concerned by the disturbing incident of sexual abuse involving a 12-year-old girl in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State, which has understandably garnered significant public attention.

“Our thoughts are first and foremost with the young survivor and her family during this incredibly difficult time. DSVA is actively involved in this case, and investigations are already underway in close collaboration with the Police Force.

“The case has been referred to the Gender Desk Unit, and the alleged perpetrator is currently in custody at the Ayobo Police Station. We are also in direct contact with the survivor’s family to offer our full support.”
