LASODA COMMISSIONS UPGRADED CLASSROOM BLOCKS AT AGANJU IKU INCLUSIVE PRIMARY SCHOOL, OKOKOMAIKO


In a decisive move to strengthen social inclusion and guarantee equitable access to quality education for all learners, the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), in partnership with Raising Stars Africa Foundation, has commissioned four newly upgraded classroom blocks at Aganju Iku Inclusive Primary School II, Okokomaiko, Ojo Local Government. 

Speaking at the event on Monday, the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, underscored the vital role of inclusive education in ensuring that children with special needs are identified early, enrolled, and supported with tailored academic interventions. 

She emphasised that every child, regardless of their ability, deserves the opportunity to learn and reach their fullest potential.
Oyetunde-Lawal reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to expanding access to inclusive education across Lagos State. 

She urged stakeholders, especially school authorities and community members, to take ownership of the newly provided infrastructure and ensure proper maintenance.

The upgraded classroom blocks were formally handed over to the Education Secretary of Ojo Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Abiola, and the Head of the School’s Inclusive Unit, Alhaja Fatima Alade Ayopo. 

Both officials commended the Lagos State Government for the intervention, noting that the project would significantly strengthen learning opportunities for children, irrespective of their circumstances.

Also speaking, the Director of Social Development and Integration at LASODA, Mr. Akeem Kelani, described the initiative as part of the state’s broader social responsibility to enhance access and improve the educational experience of children living with disabilities.

The newly commissioned blocks are fully equipped with modern desks, chairs, and marker boards, creating a conducive and supportive learning environment for the pupils. The facility is expected to greatly enhance academic engagement and promote better learning outcomes for students in the inclusive school.
