COMMISSIONER SALUTES RETIREES FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE AT 2025 APPRECIATION DAY

The Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development today hosted its 2025 Retirees’ Celebration and Appreciation Day, honouring dedicated officers who have concluded their years of meritorious service to Lagos State.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Dayo Bush Alebiosu, praised the retirees for their unwavering commitment and the value they brought to the Ministry.

“We are here to acknowledge and celebrate brothers and sisters with whom I have had the privilege and opportunity to work over the last couple of years,” he said. “There is a saying that not everyone you fight with is your enemy, and not everyone you play with is your friend. Some of us have had our quarrels, not because we are enemies, but because we needed results. Sometimes when you are under pressure, you share it.”

He described his first encounter with all the retirees as very memorable and one which cannot be forgotten so easily. He further appreciated their dedication, acknowledging that retirement, whether at age 60 or after 35 years of service, is a well-earned milestone.

Hon. Alebiosu offered prayers and goodwill to the retirees as they move into the next chapter of their lives. “As you now move on, our prayers go with you. Whether we like it or not, every one of us will get to this point in service.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Esv.  Olayinka Wasiu, also delivered heartfelt remarks, expressing deep gratitude to the retirees for their hard work, loyalty, and commitment. He urged them to remain thankful for a graceful and honourable exit from service.

In his words, “Give glory to God that your departure from service today is not through death or misfortune, but through statutory means, a blessing we do not take for granted”. He praised their contributions and encouraged them to embrace the future with joy and fulfilment.

The Honourable Commissioner expressed special appreciation to Mrs. Modupe Ileyemi, Engr. Tajudeen Raji, Mrs. Yemisi Ukpeh, Mrs Remilekun Ajedokun, and Mr. Salau Kuye, acknowledging their remarkable service to the Ministry.

“God bless you all, and God bless the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development,” he concluded.
