AUOMMATON commends Tinubu’s reforms, hails infrastructure drive, predicts strong 2027 outlook

The National President of the Amalgamated Union of Motor Mechanics and Technicians of Nigeria (AUOMMATON), Engr. Dr. Oseni Suleiman, has lauded the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold, transformative, and visionary leadership anchored on far-reaching economic, infrastructural, and institutional reforms.

Dr. Suleiman gave the commendation in a statement issued in Abuja, where he reviewed the performance of the administration since assuming office, noting that the President’s reform-driven agenda is steadily repositioning Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth, national productivity, and global competitiveness.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated uncommon political will in confronting long-standing structural challenges in the economy, implementing policies that, though initially demanding, are already laying a solid foundation for long-term prosperity and national stability.

He particularly praised the government’s massive infrastructure drive, describing it as one of the most ambitious in recent history. He noted that ongoing road construction, rehabilitation of critical highways, expansion of transport corridors, and renewed investments in logistics networks are significantly improving connectivity across the country.

“These interventions are not only easing the movement of goods and services but are directly impacting productivity across key sectors. For our members in the automotive and technical ecosystem, improved road networks and transport systems translate to increased demand for services, efficiency in operations, and better economic opportunities,” he said.

Dr. Suleiman further highlighted reforms in the education sector, noting that the administration’s renewed focus on technical and vocational education is a strategic step toward building a skilled workforce capable of driving industrial growth. He emphasized that policies aimed at strengthening skill acquisition, modernizing training institutions, and aligning education with industry needs will have lasting benefits for artisans, technicians, and the broader economy.

On economic reforms, the AUOMMATON President commended the government’s decisive fiscal and monetary policy adjustments, including efforts to stabilize the macroeconomic environment, improve revenue generation, and enhance transparency in public finance management. He noted that these reforms are gradually restoring investor confidence and repositioning Nigeria as an attractive destination for both local and foreign investments.

While acknowledging the temporary hardships associated with some of the policies, Dr. Suleiman stated that there are clear and emerging indicators of recovery and stability across several sectors, particularly in transportation, small-scale industries, and automotive services where union members are actively engaged.

In addition, he specially saluted the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, for what he described as “giant and landmark achievements” in revenue administration and institutional reforms.

He noted that under Dr. Adedeji’s leadership, the revenue system has witnessed remarkable transformation marked by improved efficiency, enhanced compliance, and innovative strategies that are significantly boosting government earnings and supporting national development.

“Dr. Zacch Adedeji has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and commitment to national service. His achievements in reforming the revenue architecture are not only commendable but pivotal to the success of the broader economic agenda of this administration,” he added.

Speaking on the political outlook, Dr. Suleiman expressed strong optimism that the administration’s growing list of achievements will translate into increased public confidence and support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stated that the consistency in policy implementation, combined with visible development across sectors, provides a solid foundation for continuity and long-term national progress.

However, he urged the federal government to further deepen engagement with stakeholders in the informal sector, particularly artisans and technicians, to ensure that the benefits of reforms are more inclusive and felt at the grassroots level.

He also called for sustained investment in vocational training, access to modern equipment, and targeted support for local industries as a means of empowering Nigerian youths and strengthening the country’s productive base.

Dr. Suleiman reaffirmed AUOMMATON’s commitment to national development and pledged the union’s continued support for policies that promote economic growth, job creation, institutional reforms, and improved infrastructure delivery across Nigeria.
