The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by two weeks, moving the deadline from July 10 to July 24, 2026, to accommodate eligible Nigerians yet to register.
Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee disclosed this in a statement.
In the statement released on Thursday, INEC said the decision followed a review of the exercise and feedback from state offices, political parties, civil society groups, and other stakeholders nationwide.
The exercise, which began on August 18, 2025, was initially scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, but the extension, according to the Commission, is aimed at ensuring broader inclusion in the national voters’ register ahead of upcoming elections.
INEC also announced the introduction of a self-service online registration platform for first-time voters, set to go live on July 8, 2026, via its CVR portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org.
