As part of a deliberate strategy to build a sustainable leadership pipeline and strengthen the future of the Federal Fire Service, the Controller General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi,FCNA , ACTI has initiated a five-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for senior and mid-level officers of the Service. The programme, themed “Enhancing Strategic Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Public Safety in the Federal Fire Service,” commenced today at the Belmont Hotel, Wuye, Abuja.
Building on earlier capacity-building efforts that primarily targeted top management cadres, this programme is deliberately designed to also incorporate officers at the middle leadership level, recognising their pivotal role as the next generation of command and policy drivers within the Service. The initiative reflects a forward-looking approach to succession planning, institutional continuity, and sustained operational effectiveness.
The training is organised by the Federal Fire Service in collaboration with Titans Holdings Limited and the Pan-African Leadership and Management Institute, and forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at deepening professionalism, leadership competence, and ethical service delivery across all levels of the organisation.
Participants, drawn from senior and mid-level cadres across various commands, are being equipped with practical leadership tools and strategic skills necessary for higher responsibilities. Key focus areas include strategic leadership and organisational transformation, ethics, attitudinal change and professional conduct, governance, policy, and future readiness, amongst many other well-thought-out topics.
The programme also aligns with the performance benchmarks outlined in the Performance Bond signed between heads of agencies under the Ministry of Interior and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. One of the core deliverables of the bond emphasises capacity building, institutional strengthening, improved service delivery, and leadership development across all agencies in the Ministry.
By extending structured leadership training to middle-cadre officers, the Controller General is reinforcing the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to meeting these key performance indicators while ensuring that emerging leaders are adequately prepared to uphold the Service’s mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
